Artists Collaborate in Tape MuralsQuick brainstorming with thumbnail sketches were created for a starting point for the tape murals. Once approved, students walked around school to find the location that was best suited for their design. They were given 4 days to complete the tape murals. Students worked well together in their groups to try and complete before open house. 3 murals were completed in time. The others will continue to work a few more days to complete theirs. I will post final murals soon. Here is the creative process the students worked through. Artists Collaborated and Developed new skills in Red Balloon PlayStudents were given red balloons one at a time to keep in air. Slowly new balloons appeared as we worked together to keep 17 balloons floating. I played too, hence why no photos of the chaos and fun. As balloons hit ground they were out. We reflected on experience and all agreed it was easier to keep 3 floating. We then discussed various perspectives of the scene. We drew 3 thumbnails of three views: from corner of room, floating above looking down, and in the middle of the fun. Descriptive words were added. The second experience was with string attached to balloons and hitting them back and forth and ultimately at each other. A needle was used (by me) to slowly pop balloons as they played. 2 survived, only because they were hidden from me. Little sneaks. :) Same perspectives sketched, but with strings and popping and different descriptive words. Thumbnails were critiqued and used for 2 final collaborative murals with charcoal and pastels.
